Will the First Time You Try EV Buzz
Be Within an Autonomous Uber?

Volkswagen and Uber have launched a strategic partnership to deploy autonomous EV Buzz vehicles on the Uber platform in multiple U.S. markets, starting in Los Angeles.

Testing will begin in late 2025, with plans to offer rides on the Uber platform in 2026.

The strategic partnership between the two companies aims to deploy a fleet of thousands of all-electric, fully autonomous Buzz.

Buzz EVs will have human operators onboard to help refine the technology and ensure safety.

“Volkswagen is not just a car manufacturer—we are shaping the future of mobility, and our collaboration with Uber accelerates that vision,” said Christian Senger, CEO of Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility. “What really sets us apart is our ability to combine the best of both worlds—high-volume manufacturing expertise with cutting-edge technology and a deep understanding of urban mobility needs.”
“Volkswagen believes that mobility is transformational. Our partnership with Uber is the next step for us to realize this vision and unleash the potential of autonomous mobility,” said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America.

Walmart Rolls Out Their Own

News is out. Walmart, which already provides EV charging in several hundred of their stores, partnered with Electrify America, EVgo, and others, is now rolling out their own charging system.

Each of the Walmart standard chargers will support two current charging standards. First, NACS, pronounced "Nax" and meaning North American Charging Standard that Tesla utilizes, that has increasingly been adopted by other EV manufacturers. Second, the CCS1 connector compatible with most of the other EVs, except Tesla and Nissan's Leaf.

Walmart plans for their charging stations to be front and center within line of store vestibules and 200 feet from them, well lit, ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) compliant. Pull-through charger spots will also be available for EVs pulling trailers.

Access to chargers will be through the Walmart app, and support will be available from store associates and via their app to their customer care team.
