2010 Honda Civic Hybrid

The Toyota Prius gets a lot of press as the top selling hybrid, however, we know lots of people who own and love their Honda Civic hybrids. And our YouTube video about the Honda Civic Hybrid has been viewed by tens-of-thousands.

The 2009 Civic hybrid has the same minor cosmetic and interior trim mods that gas-only Honda Civic got this year. Nobody knows yet what the 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid will look like, not even the artist who drew the pic presented above.

Back when both vehicles first came out Consumer Reports found they would both pay off the extra cost of their hybrid tech within a five-year time frame. By this measure, early adopters of both vehicles will have paid for the eco-innovations in their cars by 2011, about the time they'll be inspecting plug-in hybrids by the same manufacturers.

We're wondering whether Honda's going to beat Toyota to the U.S. market with a plug-in. If they do, we're betting it will be introduced first in the Civic.
